Loughton Festival events showcase the people and organisations that make Loughton such a vibrant place to live.

In previous years the Loughton Festival has highlighted the life and work of writers and poets who were connected to Loughton. These included: the Lady Mary Wroth, Arthur Morrison, John Clare, Alfred Lord Tennyson, Edward Thomas, Hesba Stretton, Rudyard Kipling and George Granville Barker. All were famous in their time, and some still are.

We have also heard from writers themselves, including Peter Wilby, former editor of the New Statesman, Jenny Diski and Julia Golding.

The Loughton Festival celebrates local talent. John Markham displayed his art work last year in an exhibition entitled 'From Epping to Tahiti' at the Gardeners Arms.

All volunteers - and we need your help!

It might surprise you to know that the Loughton Festival is entirely organised by volunteers who devote a lot of their already busy time to providing Loughton residents with events they can look forward to every year.

Please support the volunteers by sponsoring an event (from £200) or by volunteering yourself.

The Loughton Festival supports local 'Good Causes'.

Over the years, the Loughton Festival has raised money for Save the Children,  the Lifeboats (RNLI), the Alzheimer's Society and the Royal British Legion and Guide Dogs for the Blind.

In 2010 the Festival raised money for the hydrotherapy
fund at Oak View School, a special school in Loughton, and
Dream Factory, a charity that makes dreams come true for children
who are seriously ill.

In 2012, we will be raising money for Haven House Children's Hospice.

Tre Azam from the Apprentice and students from Epping Forest College and Barking College raised £1,110 for Save the Children in April 2009. Thanks also should go to their tutors, who supported the project throughout and to Vi and her team who run the
Save the Children shop in the Broadway.
