Sunday 18 April 3pm - 4.30 Forest Hall Church, on the corner of High Beach Road and Loughton High Road.  Open so you can  view the amazing Norwegian craftsmanship.

Built in 1899, the original Forest Hall Church was a chalet style building that was shipped over to Loughton from Norway in sections and erected on the present site, which in 1899 was right in the centre of the village. The building was officially opened for church use on Saturday 2 December 1899.  The original ornamental building was well constructed. The floorboards are Norwegian Pine and are over one inch thick, tongue and grooved. The underside of the floor joists are boarded with tongue and groove at least a half inch thick.

During the early 1950’s the exterior wooden walls were in need of replacement. The brick building, as it is today, was constructed under the original roof retaining much of the original interior pine. and the building was officially reopened on 12 September 1953 and remains in use today for church purposes.
